Eve, the second of God's human creations and the first woman in Judeo-Christian and Islamic tradition, is certainly a symbol of womanhood and motherhood, as she is mother to the human race. But owing to her role in the introduction of sin into the world (succumbing to the enticements of the serpent and doing likewise for Adam), she also represents temptation and the fall from grace.
